SYNOPSIS
In the last 10 year, Malaysian has seen a rapid growth in public transport constructions such as KTM Double track and MRT. With the renewed commitment to enchance public transport in Greater KL with MRT2 and LRT3 for example, the reliance of cheap foreign labour into the constuction site will continue to grow. This inevitably resulted in many issues including safety. This talk will discuss on the lesson learnt from the previous MRT Line 1 constructions, looking into the root causes and potential solutions to some of the accidents.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Dr. Hang Tuah Baharudin received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom in 2000. After a stint working in an aerospace industry, he left his job to complete his PhD in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering from University of Liverpool, UK in 2007.
Upon returning to Malaysia, in 2008 he started working as lecturer and researcher at Universiti Putra Malaysia. In 2013, he was promoted to his current post as Associate Professor, specializing in Additive Manufacturing, High Speed and Micro Machining, Designing and Industrial process consultation. He has lead several industrial projects primarily in aerospace, automotive and semi conductors industries, improving productivity and quality by introducing new processes. His current research interest is in non-conventional machining processes, machining of superalloys, additive manufacturing and industrial processes. He is currently head of Rapid Prototyping Laboratory and is also a founding member of Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMReC) in his university.
