SYNOPSIS
Wastewater treatment is a process used to remove contaminants from wastewater or sewage and convert into an effluent that can be returned to the water cycle with minimum impact on the environment, or directly re-used. The latter is called water reclamation because treated wastewater can be used for other purposes. The treatment process takes place in a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), often referred to as Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) or a sewage treatment plant. Pollutants in mu-nicipal wastewater (households and small industries) are removed or broken down. The treatment of wastewater is part of the overarching field of sanitation. Sanitation also includes the management of human waste and solid waste water as well as stormwater (drainage) management. By products from waste water treatment plants, such as screenings, grit and sewage sludge may also be treated in a wastewater treatment plant.
This talk will discuss about the common systems and equipment used for Wastewater Treatment in Asia. The simple, effective and economical sys-tems for Wastewater Treatment.
SPEAKER BIODATA
Dr. Lee Heng Choong, graduated in 1978 from University Malaya with B.E. (HONS) in Chemical Engineering, in 2008, obtained as Honorary PhD in Environment from Newcastle University UK. Former founder of Waste Water Engineering Bhd (listed company in 2008), had built more than 400 wastewater and water treatment plants in Malaysia, China, Indonesia and Singapore for Industrial, multifacilities and Waterworks.
He has an extensive experience in areas of design, construction, project management, contract administration and plant coanisioning of WWTP and WTP projects varian from 100 m3/D up to 150000 m3/D.
