SYNOPSIS ABOUT THE NATIONAL SPACE AGENCY, ANGKASA
The National Space Agency, ANGKASA, is a government agency established in 2002 with a mission to harness space as a platform for knowledge generation, wealth creation and societal well-being. It has three main focusses including space science, space technology application and space system development in operation. Besides these three focusses, ANGKASA is also mandated to oversee the nation’s space policy, space act and international relations. In terms of facility and infrastructure, ANGKASA is a host to a world-class national satellite testing facility as well as ground station for satellite mission control in its headquarters in Banting, Selangor. Besides, it has a national observatory in Langkawi for astronomical activities.
