SYNOPSIS

With the emphasis given by the Government on adoption of BIM in construction, industry players are now beginning to discover the benefits of BIM at various levels of a project implementation.

After an overview of BIM & its application in a typical project, the team will delve on the following:

• When is the ideal stage for BIM to be adapted during the implementation of a  project?
•How different is the BIM process in a conventional vs Design & Build (D&B) contract?
•What are the challenges of adopting BIM platform as an enabler in the different types of projects?

The team will also deliberate on the challenges of adopting BIM in the current Malaysian construction industry giving focus on the readiness of the Consultants, Contractors and Client to optimized/ideal BIM implementation. The team will be sharing their experience in rendering BIM consultancy services in projects such as a medical facility, infrastructure, transit stations, highway and highlighting the challenges in each.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ir. Sharifah Azlina Bt Raja Kamal Pasmah, a Malaysian, aged 52, is the Group Chief Operating Officer of HSS Engineers Bhd (HEB) and the CEO of HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd and BIM Global Ventures Sdn Bhd.  

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Memphis, USA in 1990.  She completed her Master of Business Administration at Cardiff, UK in 2012.  She is a Fellow with the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, Principal Interviewer for Institution of Engineers, Malaysia’s professional applicants and Vice Chairman of the Women Engineers Section (terms 2013 – 2014) with the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, a Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia, an  ASEAN  Chartered Professional Engineer, a Member of the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia, member of the Intelligent Transport System of Malaysia and a member of Project Management Institute (Malaysian Chapter).  She is also a member in the buildingSmart Malaysia Chapter.

Ir. Sharifah Azlina has over twenty eight (28) years of experience within the engineering and project management services market.  Ir Sharifah Azlina is also instrumental in setting up the Building Information Modelling (BIM) outfit in the HSS Group, with the incorporation of BIM Global Ventures Sdn Bhd locally and HSS BIM Solutions Private Limited in Chennai, India in the year 2012.
