SYNOPSIS

The Asia Pacific infrastructure market is estimated to grow in the range of 7% - 8% annually.  Total investment in infrastructure is gauged at USD26 trillion from 2016 -2030.  Out of which, about USD14.7 trillion, or 56%, will be required for investment into the power infrastructure sector. The market is vast, but competition is keen.  Staying ahead in the pack within the industry requires vision and calculated risk-taking foresight.  Meritocracy and good basic foundation are paramount in building solid foreign footholds, whilst maintaining relevancy locally.

PESTECH had successfully delivered power transmission infrastructure projects in Brunei, Cambodia, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Mali, Papua New Guinea, Philippines (on going), and Sri Lanka.  Different phases of social and economic development in the region provides a balanced business exposure to PESTECH so that it is not subjected to any particular cycle of social or economic events.  Regional projects delivery opened up new opportunities for multinational vendors partnership and ranges of customer base that further expand the Group’s market reach.

Key considerations and challenges for foreign project undertakings are:
(1) Local legal framework,
(2) Political and economical stability,
(3) Currency exchange,
(4) Procurement of project funding and
(5) Local technical preferences.

As the world become more integrated and accessible by technology and logistics, Malaysian businesses must take the initiatives to step outside their comfort zone and venture into opportunities that awaits.  So long as the ship is docked at the pier, it will not be able to unleash its full potentials.
