SYNOPSIS

Due to the exponential use of Internet, virtualization and cloud technology, the heat density per server racks has increased from average of 1-3 Kw/Rack to 4-6 Kw/rack. Certain IT application for financial institution, co-lo and research have even reach 15-30 Kw/Rack. With this development, the ability for the existing cooling technology to cater for this increasing cooling demand becomes the one of biggest challenging problem for data center owner and collocation operator. This talk will share data center precision cooling design standards, design of precision cooling, various options of precision cooling systems and technologies, evolvement of precision cooling technologies to adapt to the above challenge and various cooling efficiency mythologies that can be implemented for existing and new data center to improve the energy efficiency and green data center initiative.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ir. Eric Chang is Managing Director of PA Vision Sdn Bhd. The Company is involved in providing one stop solution for all data center infrastructure setup.  Ir. Eric Chang has over 30 years from manufacturing, implementing, project and consulting experience especially in the area of data center and critical space cooling from conceptual planning to implementing and maintenance of mechanical and electrical system for data center.

Ir Eric Chang is a Mechanical Engineer graduated with Hons. from University of Malaya, 1988. He also has a MSc. in Information Technology from University Putra Malaysia, 2000. He is a GBI green building facilitator. He is also an Uptime and TIA 942 accredited data center consultant.  He is trained in data center cooling expert and energy efficiency by Data center dynamics which is the leading data center training program in the world.
