SYNOPSIS
The emerging technologies have changed the engineering environment at a fast pace. The emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, internet of things, wireless sensor network, big data, and artificial intelligence are starting to be implemented into manufacturing industries and it is believed to be approaching. The advances in science and technology continuously support the development of industrialization all over the world. The Malaysian manufacturing industry is needed to transform towards the fourth industrial revolution in order to strengthen their competitiveness internationally. Malaysia government has initiated a national level technical working group that leads by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry to develop a National Industry 4.0 policy in 2017. The technical working group lead is consists of the member from Ministry of Communications & Multimedia, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation and SME Corporation Malaysia. The Industry4WRD - Malaysia National Industry 4.0 Policy has been launched on 31 October 2018 by Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad.
Speaker 1 - Ir. Dr. Tan Chee Fai has more than 18 years of experience in the manufacturing industry. He is actively involved in intelligent manufacturing strategic and technical enabler consultation. Currently, he is the Chief Technical Officer of Robolab Technology Sdn. Bhd. Ir. Dr. Tan is actively consulting and assists industry towards Industry 4.0 especially in relation to Intelligent Manufacturing: Robotic Systems, Big Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. Fraunhofer IEM, Germany is the technical partner institution of Robolab Technology Sdn. Bhd. He has led various Industry, University and Malaysia Government as well as International Funded Projects. He was invited as Keynote Speaker in various important international engineering events such as World Intelligent Manufacturing Summit (WIMS) at Nanjing, China, World Robotic Conference at Beijing, Intelligent Manufacturing Seminar on Collaboration to Boost the Economic Development of Belt and Road Areas, Parallel Session of the 20th Annual Meeting of China Association for Science and Technology and ICE-IEM Future Engineers Conference.
Speaker 2 - Mr. David Khor is the Executive Director of Winnotech Solutions Sdn. Bhd. He is responsible as Business and Trade Consultant that focusing on semiconductor or electronics industry(ASEAN, China and USA) by providing business matching services, business development, semiconductor technical consultation, technical project management (IC Design, Wafer Fabrication, Board & System Development, Industry 4.0). He holds MSc (Industry and Technology Management) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He is the former MATRADE E&E Specialist and Trade Advisor to support Malaysian SMI and mid-tier companies (MTCs) for oversea trade with MNCs and SMEs business collaboration.
He is also the Chairman, Malaysia Industry 4.0 Systems Integrator Association (MISI). He was responsible to establish business or trade revenue more than RM1.25 Billion (overall) for 165 Malaysian Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and 8 Mid-Tier companies. He was the Senior Director (Business & Operations), MIMOS Wafer Fab, MIMOS Berhad and former Senior Manager (Program Engineering Management) of INTEL (Oregon, USA/Penang/Kulim). Currently, he serves as committee member, Electrical-Electronics Productivity Nexus, Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC).
