SYNOPSIS
Palm oil production is vital for the economy of Malaysia, which is the world's second- largest producer of the commodity after Indonesia. But Prolonged dry weather conditions and below average rainfall brought about by the El-Nino weather phenomenon had impacted the Malaysian oil palm industry performance. The situation is aggravated by the shortages labour and conversion of existing palm oil estate to other commercial activities (ie: housing). The results are lower FFB yield, Oil and Kernel Extraction. Rate to mitigate the adverse effect of the above, the palm oil mills have to be more productive, cost effective and willing to explore opportunities to diversify the income base. The talk will share the experience of operating a high throughput palm oil mill and highlight various technologies and system available in the market to improve productivity, utilization and bottom line of the palm oil mill operating in this challenging environment.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Goh Su Kin has 13 years experience in palm oil industry with knowledge in operation management and maintenance. He graduated from Multimedia University, Malaysia on 2006 with Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He has served several companies, namely Teetech Palm Oil Mill and Bukit Leelau Palm Oil Mil. Currently he is Senior Mill Engineer with Lenga Palm oil Industries Sdn Bhd. He is registered Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate (PEPC) with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) and also a Corporate member of the institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) in Mechanical Engineering discipline.
