SYNOPSIS ABOUT MATERIALISE SDN BHD
Materialise was founded in June 1990 by Wilfried Vancraen and was the first Rapid Prototyping Service Bureau in the Benelux region. Materialise concentrated on the research and development of software solutions to transfer data to 3D printers. In 1991, the company released their medical software solution Mimics and in 1992, their industrial software solution Magics. Software development centers are now found in Belgium (HQ), the United States, Germany, China, Ukraine and Malaysia. In the year 2000, Materialise developed Mammoth Stereolithography. Materialise's suite of industrial software includes data preparation and design optimization tools, programs to integrate 3D printing into production environments, and software and control systems used by machine manufacturers to connect applications and 3D printers. Materialise's medical 3D Printing and biomedical engineering offering includes medical-image-based planning solutions, surgical drilling and cutting guides, patient-specific implants, and 3D-printed replicas of internal organs (such as the heart, kidneys, etc.) based on CT or MRI data. The technology here is used in the automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics, orthopaedic, cardiovascular, cranio-maxillofacial jewelry, art industries, etc.
