SYNOPSIS
Blasting is an essential element in the extraction of mineral and rock product that we use every day. It is used in mining, quarrying and also the removal of rock from construction sites to facilitate in the development of the country. We need rock aggregates for road building and repairing, for housing projects, ports, airport, bridges etc. We also use explosives in demolition of structures, tunneling and countless other applications. There also many complains from the public where blasting work were carried out due to fear from the use of explosives and also disturbances from the operations. As such strict operational conditions were imposed by the Authorities.
This talk will discuss the use of explosive in mining, quarrying and construction work and their effect on the environment subject and mitigation techniques use the industry. This subject is useful to the project managers and engineers overseeing the blast project and understanding the blasting report provided to them by the blasting professional.
