SYNOPSIS
Members will obtain a basic understanding of ergonomics and suitable ergonomic solutions to reduce and prevent Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs). The types, symptoms and impacts of WMSDs, hence the importance of early reporting of symptoms. The risk factors and suitable measures to reduce it by suitable ergonomic solutions will also be highlighted.
SPEAKERS’ BIODATA
Ir. Shamila Ariaratnam graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) with a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering in 2000 and completed her Masters of Business Administration from University of Strathclyde in 2008. She started her career with TriSystems Engineering Sdn Bhd in February 2001, as an Engineer spending two (2) years in software programming for the fire and gas as well as shutdown systems for offshore and on-shore platforms. As an engineer, she was also instrumental in establishing Functional Design specifications, Software Design specifications, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures and participating in FATs for various projects. In April 2007, Shamila joined Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) Sdn Bhd as a Quality Executive. SJMC was rebranded to Sime Darby Medical Centre Subang Jaya in October 2009. Beginning July 2014, following an alliance with Ramsay Healthcare, it is now known as Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare Sdn Bhd (RSDH). She has risen from the ranks of an Engineer to her present position as Manager of the Biomedical Engineering Department (BME) of RSD Hospitals – Subang Jaya Medical Centre. She is registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia as a Professional Engineer and is a corporate member of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia
