Synopsis
This series No.1 seminar (Road Pavement Technology) is intended to provide overview of road in Malaysia, introduction to pavement engineering, design methods for road pavement and construction methods for pavement. This seminar is ideal for pavement owners / users, pavement and highway engineers and engineering technologists working for federal, state or local authorities, consultants, contractors, university researchers and an excellent opportunity for those wishing to develop and enhance their knowledge on current and future pavement technology.
This seminar tentatively have 5 series;
1) Road Pavement Technology, 2) Pavement Design & Contracts, 3) Stabilization Technology in Roads, 4) Concrete & Cement Solution for Road, and 5) Pavement Evaluation and Maintenance.
Biodata of Speaker
Ir. Mohamad Shukor Che Malek graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA (1988). He has about 30 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry in Malaysia especially under Public Works Department (PWD/JKR). He is currently Director of Road and Bridge Engineering Expert in Road Branch, Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) HQ. His experiences and experts in the road design, supervision of road and highway construction and construction project management in road and highway. As the director of Road and Bridge Engineering Expert, his responsibilities include planning, design, checking the tender drawing, bill of quantity, construction drawing. He is also responsible to monitor accordingly the projects under Tenth Malaysian Plan (RMK10) for Northern Zone: Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Penang.
Assoc. Prof. Ir. Edwin Goh B.H. holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (2013) from University of Nottingham, Master of Science (Highway and Transport Engineering) (2005) and Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons.) (2001), both from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Presently he is the Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham (Malaysia Campus) and an active member of Highway and Transportation Engineering Technical Division (HTETD) in the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). He has more than 16 years of working experience as an academic and engineer, and has established an excellent teaching record and proven research profile. His research not only focusing on innovative teaching and Outcome-based Education (OBE), but also emphasising on experimental of highway pavement materials, transportation and road safety studies. He had published extensive research articles in international journal and conference, and involved in few major transportation studies such as Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA), Traffic Management Plan (TMP), Temporary Traffic Management (TTM), trip generation study, mode choice modeling and parking demand study.
Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Kamil Arshad graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia, MSc (Highway & Transportation Engineering) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and PhD in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). He has about 20 years experience in the civil engineering industry with various organizations in Malaysia. He is currently an Associate Professor (Highway and Transportation) in the Faculty of Civil Engineering. His area of interest is in the management, planning and design of highway systems, particularly in the area of pavement engineering. His research focused on environmental-friendly and sustainable asphalt materials, pavement design and rehabilitation, sustainable transportation and traffic engineering. He is a Professional Engineer and a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (FIEM). He is currently a Council Member of IEM and served in various Standing Committees of IEM.
Mr. Sahruzi Sahari obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA (1992). He has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry particularly in infrastructure works and road pavement technology. As the Business Development Senior Manager in LAFARGE company, he initiated new road segments in Lafarge Holcim Malaysia and Group; the planning & action plan for the country initiative Road Integrated Offer (RIO) program; internal training to technical & sales on the road industry; prong approach on RIO markets and segments; new material and product development on cement & concrete; external seminars with other stakeholders (C&CA, REAM, KKR, CIDB); refining specification relationship with concrete & cement solutions to roads; and development of Lafarge Malaysia’s Construction Development Lab (CDL) of method of construction for concrete solutions.
