SYNOPSIS

The first step in the Planning Phase is to define the policies, procedures, and documentation which will govern the production of the project schedule. Plan Schedule Management is the process of establishing the policies, procedures, and documentation for planning, developing, managing, executing and controlling the project schedule. This includes the development of the Work Breakdown Structure and its importance and usefulness. About decomposing the WBS into meaningful lower levels. Also about estimating resources and resource management. I will also be talking about the importance of resource allocation in relation to the project budget. After the project plan has been developed, the importance of schedule control. Crashing the project plan in order to meet a new completion date. What is the Critical path and its impact on a schedule. What to look out for when doing schedule analysis, and how to rectify the errors in the project plan.


BIODATA OF SPEAKERS

Ir. Vincent Wong is currently the Deputy Chairman of the Project Management Technical Division in IEM.  He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and Masters of Science from University Putra Malaysia. Prior to finalizing his Masters Course Work in 2002, he joined SSP Geotechnics Sdn Bhd as a Geotechnical Engineer.  He was involved in the design of highways, reclamations, soft ground treatment, hilly site development, pile foundation resolutions, marine geotechnical works, electrified double track train projects, dam projects, and SMART tunnel projects.  In 2005, he joined Wan Asia Corporation Sdn Bhd as a Project Director, involved in the development of hotels, commercial buildings, and housing projects. His passion for engineering and business drove him to start Hacent Consultant in 2006.  The business grew and in 2007, formed an association with Zone Architectural Engineering Consultancy, U.A.E.  This enabled Hacent Consultant to handle projects in United Arab Emirates, i.e. Abu Dhabi, Dubai & Ras Al Khamiah and Central Asia, i.e.Turkmenistan. Most of the Oversea Projects undertaken by Hacent between years 2007 to 2015 are high-rise building, Sea shore line protection works, Jetty Development, Mega Structural & etc.

Mr Suresh Arul is a Senior Consultant with Ipec Project Systems Sdn Bhd and a Project Management practitioner for the past 25 years. He currently provides consultancy on Planning and Scheduling for projects be it in Construction, Oil & Gas, IT and Many others. He obtained a Diploma in Project Management from Institute Wira in 1996. He first started in Planning for the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and KLIA projects and since then has been involved in many other projects. He has also been a consultant to Sarawak Shell Berhad for their upstream maintenance projects primarily providing planning consultancy to SSB and it’s contractors. He has conducted planning workshops and training for almost all industries to bring the project teams up to speed on the levels of planning that should be done based on the varying factors of the industry.He has also consulted Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ), Monsanto, World Kitchen and Ciba Vision.
