The target audience includes Project Management professionals who wish to understand and learn more on Oil and Project Management. These principles could be similarly applied in projects in other sectors.
Project Communication, Risk and Procurement Management – Execution, Monitoring and Close-Out This portion of the talk will touch on the practical applications of effective communication within the project team, application of risk management methods to reduce uncertainty of project outcome and, lastly, the practical execution and monitoring aspects within the procurement phase of the project lifecycle.
In large scale projects that spans across multi-disciplines and various stakeholders, having alignment by all within the project team with different priorities, agenda and motivation can be a daunting challenge to ensure the project objective is met. This is especially so when the project life cycle is over several years from inception to completion. This gets even more complicated if the project objective changes over time because of changes in market demand or new legislation. In this respect, communicating project objectives, instructions and information is critical in ensuring that all parties are working at the correct point of reference so that decisions in the “ivory tower” and works on the ground are done correctly and efficiently.
Risk Management is the process of identifying, assessing / quantifying, ranking and mitigating uncertain adverse events that may occur during the project lifecycle. This is a wide topic on its own and the talk will run through some real life applications tools. The context of Procurement Management will essentially encompass the activities of tender preparation, tender evaluation and contract award. The crucial parts of tender preparation are ensuring that the scope is adequately described, drafting a “bulletproof” terms or conditions of contract and ensuring an explicit commercial proposal format. Tender evaluation refers to an establishment of evaluation criteria and the regimented process required to ensure the sanctity and validity of the evaluation process upto award of contract.
