SYNOPSIS

In this workshop, participants will understand the objectives of the changes introduced under the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Accreditation Manual 2017 and learn how to address the gaps between the 2017 and 2012 accreditation manuals. Suggestions for implementation as well as tips and pitfalls to avoid will be shared by the facilitators who are team members responsible in reviewing, updating and drafted the EAC Manual 2017.

This workshop will give an overall view of EAC Manual 2017, highlighting the gaps to simplify the implementation in the participants’ institutions of higher learning. In addition to the learning outcomes mentioned below, the workshops will discuss other issues such as the requirements of professional engineers or equivalent, calculation of staff to student ratio, course/credit exemption and credit transfer, among others.

Learning outcomes:-

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1.map the courses of a programme to fulfil the requirements of programme outcomes and knowledge profile (i.e., WK1 to WK8) defined by the International Engineering Alliance (IEA)
2.design a course/courses that address Complex Problem Solving (WP) and Complex Engineering Activities (EA) defined by IEA
3.calculate the Student-learning Time (SLT) for different types of courses
