SYNOPSIS
A new force main pipe connecting pump station AMA 052 to AMA 011 is designed using GRP pipe as an alternative to original design of MS pipe. The pipe size was reduced from original diameter of 1000mm to 900mm and these change has reduce the cost of construction and the longer life span for the force main system.
There are 1200m length of the force main which will be constructed using pipe jacking method and the remaining 800 m using cut and cover method. The project started in early September 2017 and estimated to take 8 months to complete.
The visit will focus of the installation of special designed GRP pipe to cater for wate rtightness joint and jacking force and method of lamination at the pipe joint.
