SYNOPSIS
Activities concerning Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture are best observed by visiting a Royal Malaysian Navy’s ship when she is sailing. During this visit, participants will observe the crew that are well trained to operate and maintain all the systems and equipment on board to ensure the ship is at the highest condition of readiness; to float, to move and to fight. Hence, the first task of the crew is to keep it afloat, ensuring that they could handle effective damage control and fire-fighting in the event, when the ship encounters such situation due to accident or during war time. The design of the ship must cater for situation in its intact stability calculations. The ship’s equipment and system has a built-in redundancy to ensure maximum survivability. The ship crew have to be well trained to operate and maintain it to ensure the ship is at all times, kept at maximum readiness. To achieve this, drills and exercises are regularly conducted as specified in the Fleet Operational Procedures. Thus, the visit will expose the IEM Engineers to witness the operation and maintenance of RMN ship.
NOTE: The visit is strictly limited to only twenty-five (25) participants registered and fully paid on a first-come, first-served basis
