SYNOPSYS
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported that as of 12 September 2017, 448 nuclear power reactors are operation in 30 countries. In addition to delivering cost competitive electricity to consumers, creating significant job, investment and business opportunities , supporting enterprises , nuclear power is also contributing significantly to these nations’ economic growth. Several key factors including diversifying energy sources for enhancing energy security and initiatives to reduce carbon emission, amongst others have put nuclear back on the political, business and social agenda of many nations contributing to the 57 new nuclear power plants being currently constructed in 15 countries, with Belarus and the United Arab Emirates being two newcomer countries, introducing nuclear power for the first time in their countries The first presentation on Opportunities in the Nuclear Supply Chain aims to provide an overview of the business and investment opportunities in the Nuclear Power sector covering the Nuclear Supply Chain for construction, manufacturing and services sector whilst the second presentation on Nuclear Education and Training highlights skills and competencies needed to support a Nuclear Power Programme and the education and training offered by selected countries advanced in their nuclear power programme such as the United Kingdom , France and Korea as well as new comer countries such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
BIODATA
Ms Sheriffah Noor Khamseah Al-Idid, received B.Sc. (Hons) and Master’s degree majoring in Physics from Imperial College, University of London, United Kingdom, is an Innovation and Nuclear Advocate. Ms Sheriffah has served as Special Officer to the Science Advisor to Malaysia’s 4th Prime Minister and was instrumental in supporting the Science Advisor in developing strategies and plans to promote high-tech businesses and high-tech financing.
Nuclear Power Ms Sheriffah is presently leading initiatives on Nuclear Supply Chain (NSC) and contributes significantly to Nuclear Education and Training as well as Financing Nuclear Power.
Nuclear Supply Chain Ms Sheriffah had proposed to PEMANDU, the team in the Prime Minister’s Department, monitoring Malaysia’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) regarding the strategic need for Malaysian industries to be updated regarding (business & investment) opportunities in the Nuclear Supply Chain. It is within this context that Ms Sheriffah regularly meets and presents to Industry and Professional Associations regarding Opportunities in the Nuclear Supply Chain including for the Construction, Manufacturing and Services Sector and actively connects international nuclear suppliers with these industry and professional associations.
Nuclear Education and Training Ms Sheriffah’s commitment for promoting Nuclear Education and Training is widely recognized. She has been invited by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), based in Vienna as Consultant to advice the Agency on Cooperation in Nuclear HRD between countries advanced in Nuclear Power Programme (NPP) and countries embarking in NPP.
